Dal Fry

Ingredients

  • Toor Dal : 100ml or 20oz
  • Onion : 1/4 American Onion or 1/2 Indian Onion
  • Green Chilly : 7
  • Red Chilly : 3
  • Garlic : 9 cloves
  • Coriander
  • Curry Leaves

Instructions

  1. Wash dal 3 times
  2. Put 300ml of water (for 100ml or dal) in cooker with Dal
  3. After cooker blows for 4-5 whitsles remove the dal into another container and add little water to reduce the viscosity
  4. Now out some butter and oil in the clean cooker and keep on low flame. Then add mustard then jeera and wait to pop. Then once popping add garlic
  5. Once garlic becomes little brown, add the onions, chilly etc (except coriander)
  6. Sizzle for a while then add the dal broth and then add turmeric
  7. Stir until dal is done then finally at coriander to garnish

Tips

Adding a bit on Cinnamon during the tadka phase makes it pretty good!
