Bisibelebath

It’s pronounced bisi-bele-bath 😀

Also, I’m yet to procure the ingredients for the masala from my mom. This recipie covers what one can do with an existing powder (like MTR bisibelebath powder) in an Instant Pot

Ingredients

Bass

  • Toor Dal : 1/2 cup
  • Rice : 1/2 cup
  • Red Onion(optional) : 1/4 American Onion or 1/2 Indian Onion
  • Beans : 15
  • Peas : 1/4 cup
  • Baby Carrots : 5
  • Tomato : 2 (Roma)
  • Peanuts : 1/2 cup
  • Cashew : 1/4 cup
  • Grated Coconut : 1/4 cup

Treble

  • Mustard : 1 teaspoon
  • Tamarind Concentrate : 1.5 teaspoon
  • Bisibelebath Powder : 3 Tablespoon
  • Turmeric : 1/5 teaspoon
  • Salt : 1.5 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Cut one tomato, 5 baby carrots and quarter onion in a diced fashion and 1 or 2 Tomato
  2. Cut approx 3 Lego sized pieces of tamarind and soak in 1 cup of water
  3. Wash and Soak 1/2 cup of rice and 1/2 cup of toor dal for 20 mins
  4. In cooker/instant pot in saute mode, take 1TBSP of oil and heat. Add 1 tsp of mustard and some peanuts and cashew
  5. After cashew gets a little charred, add the vegetables we cut above (tomato, carrot, onion) and let it fry for a minute
  6. After a minute add beans and peas and 1/1.5 tsp turmeric and 1.5 tsp salt
  7. Pour the tamarind stock (which is basically 1 cup of water) and add 3 cups of water (totally 4 cups)
  8. Mix a bit and add 3 Tbsp of bisibelebath powder and 1/4 cup of grated coconut
  9. Finally close lid and High pressure cook for 2 minutes. Let it release pressure naturally
